Transition stage

This may be one of the most intense periods of my last few years, after the one after my study year in Karlstad (2015-16), when I moved out from my apartment in Värmland, travelled to Åland and worked there during summer, to later move in a student apartment here in Malmö, which is the same one where I am writing this post.

This challenging year started with a few resolutions done with my friend about how many books to read during the upcoming twelve months, getting to know from her about the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge 2019, and hoping for a more reading focus skill during this year. First book finished to read in 2019? The Alchemist. Second one trying to finish to read? Men who hates women. Curios about the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge? Take a look here!

January kept going with a longing to fly back to Malmö, meet dear people and fell in love with Arabic culture and food. Two last weeks of internship filled with hope for the future, last tasks to complete, goodbyes and a busy time doing my best to write a good academic-English-written internship report. Tears, gifts and see you laters on the last two days of internship, and a weekend of confusion before stepping into university environment again. What now?

The first class of the last semester in International Migration and Ethnic Relations got us starting to think about research methodology and its connection to thesis writing. We will basically start already now to brainstorm and develop the first elements of our bachelor’s thesis, and I cannot deny that it is already stressy to only hear or write about it.

Besides this, in a week the deadline for master’s application in Sweden – or at least a few of them – will expire. Doing my best to write an efficient and convincing statement of purpose, I am realizing how little words you need to express your wishes, hopes and goals for the future!

In the first days of January I also got the advice to put my passion for cooking and tasting food together with the ideas and hobby of growing vegetables in my allotment during spring and summer months. I so created an Instagram channel called hemma_hos_rossella

Along with the last semester of study and the application for master programs, I am also sorting out other paths I may be working in parallel during these months. I am and will be applying for job positions and internships starting in September, as well as sorting out how my summer will look like. Should I catch the opportunity of the free-months of rent to grow, cook and sell vegetables throughout summer, or work a bit here in Malmö or somewhere else abroad, or maybe also travel a bit, besides going to Italy for holidays?

As an Italian song tells…lo sapremo solo vivendo! (We will discover it only by living)
